Lahore: Taking major action against those who produce mangoes with chemicals, warning notices were issued to the mango sellers and heavy fines were imposed.
According to the details, the Food Authority has started action against those who produce mangoes with chemicals, during checking in Multan, Bahawalpur and DG Khan Division, 523 kg of chemically prepared mangoes and prohibited chemicals were destroyed.

DG Asim Javed said that while issuing warning notices to 98 mango sellers, 11 were given heavy fines.
He further said that fruits cooked with calcium carbide should not be allowed to be sold, as arsenic and phosphorus present in calcium carbide can cause several diseases.
The DG said that the use of ethylene gas for cooking fruits like in modern countries is safe for human health.
