For the forthcoming massive event in the West Indies and the USA, fast bowler Brad Wheal and top-order batsman Michael Jones are back in the Scotland T20I team.

The pair, who last competed in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022, have been chosen in the T20 World Cup roster but are not included in the team that will play in the forthcoming T20I tri-series in the Netherlands.

The team led by Richie Berrington will aim to improve on their 2022 campaign, in which they notably defeated the West Indies.

Head coach Doug Watson stated, “Having Michael Jones and Brad Wheal available is crucial for the group because of their experience from previous T20 World Cups.” “I’m excited to meet them both, get to know them, and observe their abilities up close. Most of the team has been together for some time and performed admirably in the 50-over and T20 qualifiers last summer.

They haven’t played a lot of cricket since, but it’s good to have some continuity along the way. When we arrive in the Caribbean, perhaps these players will perform at least at this level.” Scotland’s tournament preparation begins on May 18 with a tri-series against the Netherlands and Ireland.

The closer we get to it, the more thrilled I am about what’s coming, and I believe the teammates are too,” Watson stated. “We’re playing a couple of games before then; we’re playing Ireland and the Netherlands next week, which will be beneficial to gain some experience in competitive action.

We want to play competitive cricket now that our training is over. It’s a great chance for us as a country to excel on the international front. This remains the highest level of cricket, even in light of the several franchise events that these players can participate in all around the world. It’s enormous from both a personal and team standpoint.”
