Wiese scored 13 runs and restricted Oman to 10 in the super over after the match was tied at the end of each side’s 20 overs.
In the late game on Sunday, David Wiese was Namibia’s hero. He scored 13 runs in the Africans’ super over total of 21 and then held Oman to 10 runs with the ball in hand to help Namibia win at Kensington Oval.
After both teams finished with 109 runs from their allocated 20 overs in a close battle, the match had gone to a crucial extra over.
After being dismissed for 109 runs in 19.4 overs by Ruben Trumpelmann’s outstanding four-wicket bowling performance, Oman appeared to be on the verge of defeat.
However, Oman’s bowlers replied with a methodical effort to restrain Namibia’s hitters, and Mehran Khan produced an incredible spell to put the game in suspense.
Khan concluded with three wickets in three overs at a cost of seven runs. Namibia needed just five wickets to win, but the seasoned bowler from Oman frustrated them with two wickets in the last over.
“A very emotionally taxing evening”
However, Oman oddly chose Bilal Khan to bowl the super over instead of Khan, and Khan was not given the ball.
However, that plan backfired spectacularly, as Wiese hit the first ball for a four and then Khan’s second delivery for a six with a full toss.
Before Namibian captain Gerhard Erasmus blasted back-to-back fours to give Oman a challenging victory target of 22 off their super over, Wiese took three more runs off the following two balls.
After taking over as Namibia’s bowler, Wiese dismissed Naseem Khushi with two balls down and only allowed two runs to pass through.
After two more singles, Oman only needed eighteen off the final delivery to win, so Wiese could let Zeeshan Maqsood hammer home a six with confidence. Wiese, 39, remarked, “I definitely aged a couple of years tonight.

” Furthermore, I don’t have many years left in me. The evening was emotionally taxing. In the super over, Wiese stated he was certain he could lead Namibia to victory with bat and ball.
“It helped that I felt like I could take the ball and execute when I got a few hits out in the super over. I also had a feel for the game.” The pitch was challenging and didn’t go as planned. However, we adjusted rather nicely.
Despite being devastated by a heartbreaking near-miss, Oman skipper Aqib Ilyas stood by the choice to select Bilal as the super over bowler rather than the highly effective Khan.
“Bilal is among the best bowlers available at this level, in my opinion,” Aqib remarked. However, there are times when your plans don’t work out.
“Maybe the ball was wet and he couldn’t execute, but he was clear and we were clear.”
Prior to this, Trumpelmann had given Namibia an incredible start, taking two wickets from the game’s opening two deliveries as part of a four-wicket effort. With 3-28 off 3.4 overs in the mandatory 20 overs, Wiese also looked impressive.
However, Namibia made a tough effort in the run chase, with the highest scorers being Jan Frylinck (45) and Niko Davin (24), as the Southern African team narrowly missed their victory target.
