BRPOUD: BATON ROUGE, LA On Friday, June 7, a former men’s basketball player for LSU went away.
Josh Maravich, 42, died in the Covington family home. Pistol Pete Maravich, the legendary men’s basketball coach at LSU, had two sons, including Maravich.
“I came here to honor my father and bring him joy,”
Maravich stated in a 2005 Daily Reveille story published by the LSU student newspaper.

Maravich played high school basketball at St. Paul’s in Covington before attending LSU.
In his final year at St. Paul’s, Maravich averaged 18 points, four rebounds, four assists, and three steals per game, according to LSU Athletics.
Maravich scored more than 1,000 points throughout his three years as a Saint Paul’s player.
According to LSU Athletics, Maravich participated in the men’s basketball program at LSU for four seasons, from 2001 to 2005, while playing under head coach John Brady. The details of Maravich’s funeral will be revealed later.
