Saim Ayub, a youthful opening batsman for Pakistan, has come under heavy fire from former PCB chief Ramiz Raja for his repeated mistakes in Twenty20 international matches.
Raja said on his YouTube channel that Saim’s lackluster performance as an opener has disrupted the Pakistani team’s overall combination.
The former cricket player from Pakistan demanded that Babar Azam and Muhammad Rizwan be reinstated as the team’s full-time openers in front of the T20 World Cup 2024, which will take place in the USA and the West Indies next week.
Saim Ayub was given “too many chances,” according to Ramiz Raja.
Pakistan dropped the first game of their four-match series against England after losing by 23 runs in Birmingham. Chasing 184, the entire “Men in Green” lineup collapsed at 160 after a sluggish seven-ball two from struggling starter Saim Ayub.
Earlier this month, Ayub was also only able to score 65 runs in three innings against Ireland and 57 runs in four innings at home against New Zealand.
Former Pakistani cricketer and former PCB president Ramiz Raja said after Saim’s most recent defeat to England that the current squad shouldn’t keep Saim on the team since he has already been given too many unproductive opportunities in the playing XI.
Ramiz Raja also pleaded with the Pakistan team management to reinstate Babar Azam and Muhammad Rizwan as starting openers for the T20 World Cup 2024, which begins next week, on his YouTube channel. He declared:
“I don’t think Pakistan should keep Saim around.” He’s had far too many opportunities. You must go back to Muhammad Rizwan and Babar Azam’s opening duo. Saim is the reason why the entire combination has been upset.
