BJ Thompson, a defensive lineman with the Chiefs, went into cardiac arrest on Thursday; he is still unconscious but is in stable condition at a nearby hospital.

On Thursday night, Chris Turnage, Thompson’s agent, provided some additional information regarding the circumstances.

Turnage said to NFL Media, “BJ is still unconscious at this point, but he’s stable and vitals are good.”

“His family asks for your continued prayers.”

Thompson experienced a medical issue at the team facility on Thursday, forcing the Chiefs to postpone practice. During a special teams meeting, the 27-year-old experienced a seizure that resulted in cardiac arrest, per NFL Media.

Thompson was able to receive the necessary care fast because the Chiefs’ medical personnel and trainers reportedly responded to the situation right away.

Thompson, a Stephen F.ustin product and the Chiefs’ fifth-round pick in 2023, played in just one game during his rookie campaign.

The Chiefs practiced on Tuesday and Wednesday before holding their last offseason training activity (OTA) of the week.

The Chiefs moved all of their Thursday events to Friday due to the current circumstances.

There is still an obligatory minicamp for the Chiefs scheduled for June 11–13.

The team will have a minicamp and then be off until training camp begins in late July.
