What will be the position of PTI in the Punjab Assembly after getting specific seats?
LAHORE: The number of Tehreek-e-Insaf MLAs in the Punjab Assembly is likely to increase from 106 to 135 after getting the reserved seats.
According to the details, after the decision of the Supreme Court of Pakistan to give specific seats to the Tehreek-e-Insaf in Punjab, although the Muslim League is not facing political difficulties like the Center, but it is facing political difficulties in the House of the Provincial Assembly.
A major setback has been experienced. In the general elections of the year 2024, the Non-League emerged as the largest political party in the Punjab Assembly with 224 seats, but after losing certain seats, the number in one house remained close to 204.
In this way, Muslim League Qaf, People’s Party and Stabilization of Pakistan also had to lose the seats of women and minorities. At present, the number of opposition members in the Punjab Assembly is 107, out of which the opposition member Mian Aslam Iqbal has not taken oath, while the remaining 106 members are on the opposition seats from the platform of the Sunni Unity Council.
The number of members of Muslim League Qaf is 10, People’s Party 13, Stability Pakistan 6 while one member of Muslim League Zia is also present in the House.
In the light of the Supreme Court’s decision, the number of seats in the Punjab Assembly may reach 135 after the Sunni Unity Council got 24 seats for women and three for minorities in the Punjab Assembly, but this situation is politically dangerous for Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz.
On the government front, the Chief Minister is still in a safe position because any other party will need the support of 186 members to change the Chief Minister, while Maryam Nawaz currently has 204 members of her party in the House.
10 members of Qaf of the Muslim League, 13 members of the People’s Party and 6 members of the Stabilization of Pakistan are also supporting the provincial government of Maryam Nawaz.
