LAHORE: The Punjab government is prepared to introduce the first-ever Livestock Card program in 2024, offering interest-free loans to farmers.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz
gave her approval for the project while presiding over a meeting about facilities for those in the livestock business.
According to the chief minister, the administration aimed to achieve economic independence for livestock farmers.
The chief minister was informed by officials that both male and female dairy farmers in South Punjab’s rural districts would receive the interest-free loan.
They claimed that the program will benefit more than 40,000 farmers.
Animal food will be purchased with the borrowed money.
June 08 (APP): Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the chief minister of Punjab, has given her approval to the Punjab Livestock Card scheme, which will provide interest-free loans of Rs 250,000 for animal feed. On Saturday, the CM chaired a livestock-related meeting here where significant projects were approved.
The chief minister gave instructions to streamline the application process for livestock producers to obtain loans and to develop a plan for dairy farming in South Punjab.
“We want to put Punjabi livestock farmers on the path to economic independence,” the chief minister stated.
Loan Limit under Punjab Livestock Card Scheme
The Livestock Card initiative will provide farmers in Punjab with easy loans up to Rs270,000 to buy wanda, silage, and mineral combination facilities.
The farmers will have ninety days to repay their debt using the Punjab Livestock Card. Furthermore, Punjab’s “Animal Identity Traceability System” will make it easier to care for animals.
The facilities for free animal tagging, free insemination services, wanda (feed), and silage quality testing will be given to the farmers.
