“Am I the only one who finds this strange?” One MCU spectator voiced dissatisfaction.
Regarding a character cameo in the Venom 3 trailer, Marvel fans are left perplexed. Sony unveiled the first image of Venom: The Last Dance, the third and last movie in the Spider-Man spin-off series, on Wednesday, June 3.
Sony had the exclusive rights to certain Spider-Man characters, therefore their films were usually set outside of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). However, as licensing agreements evolved, the studios began working together.
Tom Hardy, the star of the Venom series, made an appearance in an MCU scene during the mid-credits of Spider-Man: No Way Home. Now, a different MCU figure can be seen in the teaser for The Last Dance. It doesn’t seem reasonable, though, that they are included.
Chiwetel Ejiofor, who debuted in Doctor Strange and reappeared as Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, as Karl Mordo once more in the teaser.
However, the guy appears to be portraying a completely different version of Venom because he is dressed in army gear and is heading a group of operatives to catch Venom, which sets him apart from the persona shown in the Doctor Strange film series.
Fans are perplexed by this because, in the No Way Home post-credits sequence, Mordo appears at the same location as Venom, indicating that the movie is supposedly set in the MCU and that Mordo is the same guy we’ve seen previously.
Following this, many have concluded that the movie is not set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and that Mordo’s appearance in the pub is a continuity problem.
After watching the trailer, many expressed their confusion online.
