The federal government has imposed fixed charges of up to one thousand rupees on domestic electricity consumers.
Fixed charges for non-domestic customers have been increased by up to 184%.
Notification of imposition of fixed charges and increase from July 2024 has been issued.
Fixed charges of Rs 200 have been levied for domestic consumers on consumption of 301 to 400 units per month, while fixed charges of Rs 400 have been imposed on consumption of 401 to 500 units per month.
Fixed charges of Rs 600 will be levied on usage of 501 to 600 units per month and fixed charges of Rs 800 on usage of 601 to 700 units per month.
A fixed charge of Rs 1,000 was imposed on monthly usage of more than 700 units.
Before that, household electricity
Earlier, fixed charges were not imposed on domestic electricity consumers.
The monthly fixed charges for industrial customers have been increased by 184 percent.
150% increase in monthly fixed charges for commercial electricity consumers and 100% increase in monthly fixed charges for agricultural tube wells consumers.
Monthly fixed charges for industrial customers increased from Rs 440 to Rs 1250.
Fixed charges for commercial customers increased from Rs.500 to Rs.1250.
Fixed charges for agricultural tube wells customers increased from Rs 200 to Rs 400.
