Roster shaped by drafting McDavid, Draisaitl, Bouchard, signing Hyman
After defeating the Dallas Stars 2-1 in Game 6 of the Western Conference Final at Rogers Place in Edmonton on Sunday, the Edmonton Oilers made history by making it to the Stanley Cup Final for the first time since 2006. The Oilers are going for their sixth championship, which would be their first since 1990, when they won their fifth in a seven-year run by defeating the Boston Bruins in five games.
Moving forward The only other player who has participated in at least one Stanley Cup Playoffs game for Edmonton this year and has previously won the trophy is Corey Perry, who did it with the Anaheim Ducks in 2007. Perry has now made it to the Cup Final four times in five seasons; he had previously made it three times in a row, losing all three times, with the Dallas Stars in 2020, the Montreal Canadiens in 2021, and the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2022. Ten were picked by Edmonton in the NHL Draft, eight signed as free agents, and five were acquired through trades out of the 23 players who participated in at least one postseason game.
