Dimitrov Monday’s first-round match between Dimitrov and Mannarino in the Cinch Championships promises to be a classic grass-court battle.

Although both players are excellent on this surface, will Mannarino’s performance change the course of this matchup? Dimitrov is 10-2 overall in sets played and has won all five of their prior meetings, which took place on outdoor hard courts.

The Bulgarian won 6-3, 6-3 in their most recent meeting, which took place in the Indian Wells Masters round three this spring.

With a brilliant 28-9 record for his 2024 campaign, Dimitrov is ranked No.

10 in the world. The 33-year-old is surprisingly making his Queen’s Club debut after winning it in 2014.

While Mannarino finished 2023 on fire, things have been very different this season.

The 35-year-old Frenchman has a terrible 8-14 and came into the grass swing having lost eight straight games, starting with his defeat to Dimitrov at Indian Wells.

Mannarino, ranked number 21, lost to world number 232 Gijs Brouwer in the second round of the’s-Hertogenbosch tournament this past week, suggesting that not even the grass can save him.

All indications indicate that Dimitrov will continue to excel at this matchup.

Holger Rune vs. Jordan Thompson

Rune just finished a respectable, albeit unremarkable, clay-court season.

With a 9–5 record, the 15th-ranked Dane made it to the quarterfinals of the Monte-Carlo Masters and the fourth round of the French Open.

Rune, who is the epitome of an all-court player, will now play on grass, where he reached the Wimbledon quarterfinals and the semifinals of the Queen’s Club. Thompson, ranked No.

37 in the world, is the first player up for the seventh spot this week.

Thompson needs to perform exceptionally well to secure a Wimbledon seed.

The 30-year-old Australian has a lifetime record of 63-45 and is an excellent player on grass.

Sadly, Thompson has lost his last five matches after losing to Milos Raonic 6-3, 6-4 in’s-Hertogenbosch straight away. Probably another difficult draw will add  to Thompson’s woes.
