Former Indian captain has struggled to find form in T20 World Cup so far
During the T20 World Cup 2024 group stage, Pakistani skipper Babar Azam just overtook India’s Virat Kohli for the record for most runs in men’s T20Is.
After scoring just five runs in his first two games, Kohli has been unable to regain his rhythm.
In three games, Babar has scored ninety runs.
Former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh, meanwhile, declared that Kohli won’t bother to look up statistics or see what he needs to do to get back to the top of the T20I batting rankings.
In the T20 World Cup 2024 group stage, he continued, Kohli will be keen to gain some experience, but he won’t be concerned about whether he is at the top of the list of run scorers.
“I’m not sure if he is reviewing every record that Babar has already accessed before him. Still, one thing is certain.
Before moving on to the next round, which will take place in the Caribbean, he must be dying to get some major runs, Harbhajan Singh said Star Sports.
“Better pitches will be used for the matches there.
It must be on Virat Kohli’s mind how to accumulate more runs.
He would put forth a lot of effort to help India score runs since he is a champion. He’ll just pay attention to the first ten balls.
We know what Virat Kohli is capable of if he bats for ten balls,” he continued.
Babar Azam leads the batting charts with 4113 runs in 122 matches, 71 runs ahead of Virat Kohli.
After 119 matches in the game’s shortest format, Virat Kohli averages 50 in Twenty20 International cricket, while Babar averages 40 in 121 international T20I matches.
