
Washington: US State Department Deputy Spokesman Vedant Patel says that the issue of transparency of elections in Pakistan is the focus of our attention.
According to Aaj Ki Aawaz News, Deputy Spokesperson of the US Department of State, Vedant Patel, while talking to the media, said that Pakistan has been raising the issue of election rigging with its partners, urging the government of Pakistan to respect human rights and fundamental freedoms.
He said that the American authorities have continuously emphasized on the respect of people’s rights in Pakistan.
In response to a question, Vedant Patel said that the cases against founder PTI are an internal matter of Pakistan.
Regarding India-Pakistan relations, he said that Pakistan and India have to settle their own issues, America encourages dialogue among neighboring countries in the world.
“We will not discuss pending Congress legislation. In our democratic system, Congress is a separate branch of government,” he added.
