Washington: The United States has condemned the incidents of arson and looting in Pakistan on May 9.
The spokesperson of the US State Department says that the protest should be done in a peaceful manner.
Speaking at a press conference in Washington, US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said that we oppose violent actions.
During the press conference, a question was asked by a journalist that how do you see the attacks on military installations by protesters on May 9?
In response to which Matthew Miller said that the United States opposes May 9-style violent events, we support the right to freedom of expression and peaceful protest.
The spokesman said that we support the right to freedom of expression and peaceful protest and oppose violent protests.
He said that we condemn the incidents of vandalism, looting and arson, all protests should be peaceful.
He said that looting and arson does not fall under the category of peaceful protest, the law should be strictly enforced.
Apart from this, Matthew Miller was also questioned on Defense Minister Khawaja Asif’s statement about airstrikes on TTP bases.
When asked if America supports Pakistani attacks against TTP, he said that Pakistani people have suffered a lot at the hands of terrorists.
Spokesman Matthew Miller said that Pakistan is a common interest of the United States in dealing with threats to regional security, and we will continue to partner with Pakistani civilian institutions.
